England v. Switzerland
Well if no one else will...

England: Hart, Clyne, Cahill, Smalling, Shaw, Delph, Shelvey, Milner, Sterling, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Rooney.

Subs: Gibbs, Butland, Walcott, Stones, Jagielka, Vardy, Kane, Mason, Barkley, Heaton.

Switzerland: Sommer, Lichtsteiner, Klose, Rodriguez, Schar, Inler, Xhaka, Behrami, Stocker, Drmic, Shaqiri.

Subs: Burki, Hitz, Widmer, von Bergen, Moubandje, Lustenberger, Kasami, Fernandes, Inler, Stocker, Embolo.

Can't say i'd opt for Smalling, but it should be interesting nonetheless.

Screwfix sponsors ITV's coverage of England football.

FIFA are said to be very interested.

I thought that was relatively recently when FIFA changed the rules.
Think the survivors finally got some sort of honour like an MBE at least as well.
Of course the scandal was that it wasn't Sir Bobby at least when he retired from playing if not at the time along with Sir Alf. Shameful

Sven ..originally only the 11 on the pitch did with the others only awarded medals a couple of years ago!

As for Ireland's Tony Cas ... He apparently found out his granny wasn't really his granny as his mum was adopted or something like that !

Did the whole 22 eventually get World Cup winners medals?

The bbc are on fire today.

Comparing Rooney and Charltons records, 'Charlton is one of only eleven English players to win a World Cup.'

And I thought Germany were beaten by only 3 hammers.

I thought he believed his granny was born in Ireland and only found out later that it was a family myth.
You would think they would confirm these things

Love the bit in Mike Bassett, at the airport, when they said "oh here we go. 3 cheers for the England B squad!"

Sven ... That was an interesting one as Cas only qualified through his adoptive family line !

Don't pay much attention to the ROI these days but do they bring in many English born players these days?
Wasn't sure that they did though I may be wrong.

Not like the old days when ones like Cascarino qualified by ..... well he didn't qualify at all but still played.

Sterling? You're clutching at that straw?

There's a difference between a lad who moved to England when he was a nipper and went to school here, and what Ireland are doing, basically getting into the heads of a load of young English lads who have never even been to Ireland and offering them all sorts to pledge their allegiance.

Proper low, that.

Fair enough Colly.

I remember John Aldridge qualifying for Ireland through his great grandmother and when questioned that the link was a quite far down the family tree he replied with a wink "People don't realise how close I was to my great grandmother!"

Great Striker.

Well Hoddle's argument is that we have no natural choice for that role. He's right.

Missed out on Kane though who is more Irish than Noble .... And wasn't Rooney's brother going to play for the old country?

Swindon

I used to be like that, and only wanted proper Irish playing for ireland, but if every other nation is taking advantage of the rules then why not. Sterling Diego Costa ozil khedira etc.

I think we look good. I think we're miles better than all that shit form the past 40 years or so.

Re: England v. Switzerland
Alex V, but John Terry is right footed, but he has always played on the left side of the 2 centre backs, so Hoddles argument falls down.

Of course the greatest ever defender played in the left centre back/sweeper and was right footed, our very own Mr Moore

Colly,

It would not bother me if Noble played for Ireland but surely it must make you guys feel a bit miffed when players only declare themselves for Ireland when they don't think they can play for England.
Surely it should be about having pride representing your own country and not about who they will get game time with?

On a side note I see young Josh Cullen scored for the Irish U21's today.

Out of the top seeds I'd be hoping for England or Iceland, certainly two of the weaker teams.

Anyway well done rooney just another 17 to catch up to robbie Keane.
